Pleated Skirts for Chrome Chairs
By: A cateyegirl  -  7/12/2013

cateyegirls, cat eye girls, repurposing junk, 1950s chrome kitchen tableThere is an art to reupholstering the backs of vinyl clad chrome chairs.  We are not artists or photogcat eye girls, cateyegirls, repurposing junk, 1950s chrome chairraphers . . . but we are clever enough to dress up an 1950s chrome kitchen chair with a pleated skirt.

We simply fabricated a skirt with our little Featherweight that slips over the back and inserted a few pleats so it would lay flat against the curve of the back.

After we were done and snapping pictures it did occur to us that it would have been fun to have used a 1950s tablecloth deserving of repurposing for the project.  Oh, well.  Next time :)

The chairs match the most adorable little 1950s red Formica topped table.  It's smaller than most which makes it perfect for a retro apartment.  Can't wait for it to make its debut . . . hmmm . . . does it go to The BarnAmerican Primitives at Clayson Farm?  The Rustique Divas Vintage Market? or Antiques in the Park in Sisters?

So, that's what we accomplished and shared this morning . . . What are you working on?
