Artfully Grateful to Cottages and Bungalows
By: A CatEyeGirl  -  9/27/2012

cat eye girls, vintage market, funky junk show, antique show, yakima, spokane, monroe, hillsboro, puyallup, tri-cities, portland, seattle, washington, oregonWe are grateful to "Cottages and Bungalows" for their recent articles on California and Roseville Pottery!  And, while all of the rusty industrial elements we have found, kept, bought and sold possess a certain charm we are also old enough to remember a time when we were really proud to have art pottery -- Weller, Roseville, McCoy et al -- in our homes and mall and antique show spaces.

It's not just art pottery that we miss seeing at vintage markets, we miss chintz teapots and double Paragon teacups . . . like the one this cateyegirl's mother paid $26 dollars for in 1947, a gift to my grandmother.  We miss seeing the life's work of passionate collectors in whose curved glass American Oak vintage market, antique show, funky junk show, puyallup, monroe, hillsboro, spokane, seattle, yakima, tri-cities, portland, oregon, washingtonchina closets were rarities and oddities -- things that sparked a conversation and gave insight into what made the heart of the collector sing.

We also miss the interest that a younger generation expressed in the fineries of the 1920s, 30's and 40s . . . Perhaps with a little help from a few well-positioned "trendsetters" the conversation will begin anew.
